Well, as I mentioned in my "great" rant, it was the people who mostly made the job suck. My very worst experience remains when the b**ch that was my departmental manager made me cry when I tried to hand in my notice. In Sainsbury's it was a no-win if you were ill. If you came in and consequently had to go home, it was worse than if you hadn't gone in at all, and if you didn't go in at all you were skiving and the spawn of Satan. Thanks for the mention. Makes me seem all hip and popular. The funniest was a tie between the boob destroying vase thing and another that I'll talk about one day when I cop out of actually composing a post and just write a list of all the funny/bad/nasty/annoying/ironic things that happened. Nice to know you've got something to look forward to, eh?

The best thing about working behind a register was learning the value of education. Just dropped in from Aliceland to say hi. aka One Girl & Her Cats. Nice person as long as you don't challenge her about apples.

Oh lord. I hate retail. I hate people. I wanted to shiv every single one of them who asked me "Where's the bread aisle?" Turn around, dink. There, you see all the bread directly behind you? There it is. Let's see, I recieved obscene phone calls (since the video dept. answered the store phones), was cursed at for not saving a movie-it wasn't our policy, not my fault if some other bint told you she would-and had a customer throw a fit when I tried to get him the box for the display model tape player he wanted. Even better-my ex husband worked at the store as well, and since he was their best employee, rather than speak to me about anything, they talked to HIM about all the complaints I was recieving, never to me. That was charming. I hate retail. Detest it with the fire of 1000 suns.
