I have a friend who just started in the "home sex toy" sales business. I'd love to help her, but let's face it, I'm poor, I'm cheap, and she knows it. Many of her friends are, as well, so while I might wish her well? I have my doubts. Now, home yarn sales? That I might get into.

I hate those things. I always just say "Oh my lord, my niece just took all my extra cash this month buying her girl scout cookies! (Sigh) Wanna buy some from her?" Then when she says no you can both feel like the other one isn't supporting you.

I like Jenny's idea I gonna have to remember that. I am around kids a lot and they are constantly bombarding me with fund reaisers. I politely tell them that I only buy girl scout cookie and one box from each kid that asks. One year that ended up with 10 boxes, another year was just 2 and I wnet through cookie withdraw but I stuck to my guns.

I've never been to one (bar an Ann Summers party once. I brought a pair of furry handcuffs, because, well, I was drunk, and I thought it'd be fun to freak out my Muslim boyfriend...Long story) but if I ever do I'll probably say something along the lines of "oh, gee, hey, you know I would? But I've given all my spare money to the *insert current charity my local church is supporting here* fund. Sorry. Actually, in your line of business you could probably drum up support for our cause; shall we discuss possible marketing campaigns and percentage donations over another drink...?" Because, you know, I'm mean like that. ;-)

Those things are always uncomfortable. YOu really summed it up well. I have a candle party to go to this weekend.... I am sure I wont be as brave and strong as you though. (I need to be, but Id just feel too guilty)

I HATE home demonstration parties. After being suckered into them too many times, I have finally learned to say NO. My friends keep having them, though. Don't they notice that I never have them? Shouldn't they reciprocate in kind? Ugh. Kudos to you for not ordering anything.
