Well, I work for IU, so punctuality every day isn't terribly important. They want me in between 8 and 8:15 and I'm usually pretty good at that, but 8:20 or 8:30 is fine too. My own personal morning rituals, however, are non-billable Tony Time, so I have tended more often than not to stick to them -- for about a decade now. I get up ass-crack-early so I have time for myself before work. That way if I get completely drained during the day, I've already taken time for myself. It also takes some of the sting out of ye olde task master's lash. I try to make time every morning to a) write (non-blogging), b) read, c) stretch/Pilates/yoga, or d) all of the above, in addition to shower/coffee/breakfast (also important rituals). Yes! I get up rilly f%@*in' early! But it's worth it to me. It also takes me 10 minutes (on foot, 5 by bike, 3 by car) to get to work), so lollygagging in the morning is no big whoop. Also? I sleep like a rock. teh ebn.

Hm. Well I have to set my alarm about 1.5 hours before I have to leave for work. Luckily I've learned how to cut down in the shower, and my shorter hair is slightly easier. But I'm always slow moving. I had to put my alarm clock across the room, so I actually have to get up to shut it off (although I do snooze it still sometimes)...before I would snooze several times in my sleep & be late.

I make no morning appointments. I get my son up for school, but more often than not, go back to sleep afterwards. It's like split shift sleeping.

Love Tony's concept! Perhaps I will have "making time for ME in the morning" a new resolution of sorts. I get home from work around 6:30 or sometimes 7:00 and then it's hard to "unwind" and feel like you've gotten something accomplished around the house befor you go to bed. As far as getting out fo the house on time...I set my alarm clock anywhere from 15 to 20 min fast. Then set me alarm to wake me at the normal time. When the alarm goes off I know I can hit the snooze button once and get up when I really wanted to. Two hits I can still make it on time too. The trick is never to know exactly how fast you have set clock. Your brian will not have the power to do the math and you will trick yourself into getting out of bed...sounds complicated huh? works for me :)

I get up at 3:45 am so I can have me time. Unfortunately I'm exhausted the rest of the day. *snore* So last night? I got a bob! There's a picture on my blog. Your turn, chica.

I'm the first one in the office by 1 to 2 hours. Mwahahahaha! Though I really don't take advantage of that very often because I know if I don't get out of the house and to the office, it's possible I'll fall back asleep...fully dressed or not. The most impressive was a few weeks ago when I fell asleep while putting on my shoes!

I'm like Tony as well. I get up around 5:15 so I have almost two hours before my kids get up for school. As Jenny noted, I do get very tired by 7 pm, but if I want time to myself, this is what I need to do. It's always an either-or, rather than an and-and...
